The simple joy of being on my 'puter, but not on the internet
So I am still in that phase where I try to cosplay as some tech savvy guy from the early 90s, I am setting up bash scripts I forget about immediately, and use neovim to never finish 2D games in C++.
And beyond the fact that the terminal turns you into Hackerman instantly (even if you are at a Hello, world! level) I also fucking love the serenity of the simple, low stimuli environment you get while goofing around in the terminal on Linux.
Just the zen rhythm of the cursors blinking, jungle is playing on my noise cancelling headphones, and I type vim main.cpp. I feel free.
Obviously time to time I have to peak at the browser, because I have no idea what am I doing, and the C++ primer book is too heavy for my sissy nerd arms, but it still feels like sitting in a green garden and listening to the wind and the birds. I am at peace with the world.
Modern user interfaces try to imitate physical reality, but somehow the complete textual abstraction of the terminal has a much more calming effect on my brain in its virtual and entirely artificial glory.
